It's snowing here today, so I felt like we needed a cheerful bright block for this week. The Spinning Flower block is my original design. Just having some fun with rectangles and squares. The example quilt layout shows how the blocks interact with each other.

Fabric

Fabric A - Green
Fabric B - Yellow
Fabric C - Blue

Assembly Instructions

1. Arrange the squares and rectangles as shown in the Exploded View Diagram.

2. This block is created with four units around a central square. To create the units, start by sewing the Fabric A squares to the ends of the Fabric C rectangles.

3. Next, sew the Fabric D rectangles onto the A and C pieces.

4. Last, sew the Fabric E rectangles onto the Fabric C and Fabric D side of the pieces.  You should have four complete units like the one shown in the Exploded View Diagram.

5. Assemble the block using a partial seam. Start sewing the top unit onto the central Fabric B square from the middle out to the edge that matches. This will leave the left half of the Fabric B square unsewn. (See Partial Seam Tutorial in Quilting Basics for more info and illustrations) Next, sew the right unit onto the top unit and Fabric B square. Continue clockwise until all units are sewn on. Go back to the first top unit and finish the partial seam.
